  • Curriculum

    The curriculum includes everything that a child experiences in their time at St Wilfrid's. We have carefully planned and sequenced the content of each subject that makes up the taught, academic curriculum, using the National Curriculum as a basis for this.

    Around this, and running through everything are all the experiences and opportunities that we carefully plan and provide in order to ensure that we enable every child to achieve their full potential as a human being, as is our duty as a Catholic school.

    This encompasses every dimension of the child: spiritual, moral, social, academic, physical and artistic.  We have the highest academic expectations, and alongside this, teach our children to be good citizens of the world who care for others and have high expectations of themselves.

    As well as the National Curriculum subjects, the St Wilfrid's curriculum includes:

    • leadership opportunities such as being to be buddies to younger children, reading champions, school parliament, sports leaders and chaplaincy team;
    • residential trips from Year 3 upwards;
    • well-being and personal development;
    • critical thinking and communication;
    • the way we teach and support children to resolve conflict, and to live out the Gospel values by reaching out to others and raising money for charities.
    • and many more ....

    See our Curriculum Vision for more detail.

    ‘… Our aim is that children will leave St Wilfrid’s and go on to enrich society through a positive contribution to their community and beyond. We want them to become life-long learners with an openness to learn from others.'
